Bloom calendar for bees

A row of flowers changing from spring bulbs to autumn daisies
From snowdrops to ivy – something can flower in almost every month.

Bees need food for most of the year, not just in June. Choose a month to see which bee-friendly plants usually flower then. The small bars show each plant’s flowering season at a glance.

How to read the calendar

  • Months are typical for a temperate garden. Warmer or colder places can be a few weeks earlier or later.
  • Late winter and early spring are often the hardest time for bees. Plants like crocus, willow and hellebore are very valuable then.
  • Autumn flowers such as sedum, Michaelmas daisy and ivy help bees prepare for winter.
