Plan a bee-friendly bed

Plan on screen first, then plant for real.

Choose a plant, then tap the squares of the bed to plant it. The chart below the bed shows how many of your plants flower in each month. Red months are “hungry gaps” in the bee season, when your bed has nothing to offer. Fill them to earn all five crowns.

Tips for a royal bee bed

  • Plant in groups. Several plants of the same kind together are easier for bees to find than single plants dotted around.
  • Mix flower shapes. Open daisies, tube-shaped flowers and herbs each suit different bees. See the Pollination page.
  • Choose simple flowers. Many very “double” garden varieties have so many petals that bees cannot reach the nectar.
  • Leave a little wildness. Dandelions and clover in the lawn are excellent bee food.
